Property building in Hotel New Station
We had booked in for a few nights away from Tokyo over New Year's. Hotel New Station is an older building but well-maintained with some nice Showa-era touches (the Seiko clock in the lobby, some of the room design elements, the room keys!). Our room (607) was quite large with two sofas (one could be converted to an extra bed) so lots of space relative to Japanese business/budget hotels. Upon returning to the room on our last night, the room smelled like cigarette smoke which was unwelcome as we booked a non-smoking room. After calling the staff to ask about opening the room windows (you need a key), they could not have been more helpful, explained that it was a building air circulation issue and offered to move us to an adjacent room right then and there. This room (605) was smaller but from a design perspective, fantastic. From January 1st, 2024 the hotel is going to all non-smoking rooms I think so hopefully this won't be an issue for anyone else going forward. The hotel also hosts a running club on site, guests can rent shoes, T-shirts, etc. if they want to join or perhaps just go for a run on their own. We didn't use the hotel's sento bath but it seemed pretty popular.

A lovely hotel with a unique, traditional feeling interior. The room was comfortable and quite spacious, with an unusual layout that included a bathroom almost the same length as the sleeping/relaxing area. The hotel has public bathing areas on the top floor, which my husband very much enjoyed using. Breakfast was Japanese style and served as a whole tray of food, though you can also help yourself to some other items such as yoghurt and bread rolls. There is also the possibility of dining in the hotel restaurant for dinner, which is delicious. The hotel staff were lovely - very helpful and friendly, and went out of their way to look after guests. The location is excellent, just a short walk from Matsumoto Station, and within easy walking distance of Matsumoto Castle and other attractions.

The hotel is located next to the station, so it is very easy to get there. We could see the station from our room, but did not hear the trains. The room is clean and we had space for our backpacks and to hang some clothes. The beds are comfortable and soft. The bathroom was clean and we had a bath which was nice. There is also a Japanese bath on the top floor which you can use if your staying at the hotel. From the hotel it is approximately 15 minutes to get to Matsumoto Castle. There are convenience stores and restaurants nearby.

Cute little business hotel right near the station- a great location. Top floor has a sento for those inclined to chill out in a big wooden bath for a while- very nice space. Room was cute and compact, had all the amenities I needed and was a comfortable stay. I wish I’d known in advance about the little running station set up in the lobby- basically you can hire some activewear so you can go for a jog! Really great idea.

Very close to train station (less than 5-min walk). Quite a distance to Matsumoto castle. But the hotel has a bicycle (first come, first get basis). Good amenities from DHC. Common Microwave corner with hot/cold water machine, ice machine and japanese books for guests. Available onsen with clear instruction. Friendly and helpful staff.
